Ours is a multilingual country where different shades of human communication are found in myriad of accents, lexicons and tones. We acknowledge and respect the diversity of linguistic expression in its different realizations. Most of the mystic utterances our great Sufi poets have found vehicle of regional languages of Pakistan for their transmission. This makes us look at the phenomenon of language and its manifestation in literary genres with greater admiration and awe.
The academicians of the area also venerate the universal content of our literary heritage and the nuances of our linguistic expression. Hence, they feel an urge to let the world know about the potential and strength of the discourse of this part of the world. This they want to do not through a monologue but through a dialogue of higher academic level which would bring the literati of the world to a forum where they would unfold multiple facets and functions of human language.
The first ever conference on language and literature at Islamia University of Bahawalpur, under the kind and the dynamic supervision of the linguist of the region, Prof.Dr. Mamuna Ghani , was held in 2013. Our ICOLL 2019 conference aims at hosting an academic congregation of the world’s renowned linguists and writers in the City of Bahawalpur which is fringed by the Cholistan desert and is the custodian of the ancient Dravidian civilization.

The conference is an open forum and it invites the scholars from neighboring countries in special and the world in general to come forward to this land of mysticism and rich cultural heritage and share their research work with the scholars and students of Islamia University Bahawalpur and other prestigious institutions of Pakistan. The researchers can share their research output in the forms of research papers and posters. We have not confined the event to a specific subject or topic rather any topic related to language, language teaching, linguistics, and literature would be welcome.
