The Department of English Linguistics, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized its International webinar on June 4, 2022, entitled “Discourses on Human Rights”. Dr. Shahid Nawaz, Assistant Professor at the Department of English Linguistics welcomed the guest speakers. The speakers of the international webinar included Mrs. Salw Sahloul, International Expert in Gender and Women in Peace and Security, Tunisia, North Africa, Dr. Saqib Ghouri Khan, Section Officer, Chairman Senate, Islamabad, Mr. Shahrez Rafiq Qureshi, Section Officer, Ministry of Defence, Pakistan, Ms. Nabila Abbas, Youth Activist, Pakistan. Mr. Muhammad Zeeshan Khan, the associate lecturer at the Department of English Linguistics, IUB, was the focal person and the host of the webinar. Ms. Qurratul Ayn Khan and Ms. Nimra Malik were the hosts of the webinar. The sessions were chaired by Dr. Shahid Nawaz, Assistant Professor at the department of English Linguistics, IUB. After the talks of the speakers, Dr. Riaz Hussain, Head, of the Department of English Linguistics, gave concluding remarks. Rights should be granted for sustainability and mutual peaceful coexistence was the take-home message of the webinar. Syed Muhammad Ahsan Rizvi, CP Incharge, Child Protection Bureau, Bahawalpur, was the Guest of Honour. The Webinar was also attended by Dr. Azhar Hussain, Additional DSA & Director of Alumni affairs. He appreciated the efforts of members of the Linguistics Club, IUB in the conduct of co-curricular activities at the department.
